Glasgow, Scotland - Nigerian national record holder Abduljabar Adama has advanced to the semifinals of the men’s 50m freestyle at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Adama clocked 22.67 seconds to finish third in his heat, securing his place in the next round. He finished behind Australia’s Flynn Southam (22.03s) and England’s Jacob Mills (22.40s).
Fellow Nigerian Clinton Opute also competed in the event, placing sixth in his heat in a time of 23.15 seconds. Opute is currently listed as the second reserve for the semifinals should a qualifier withdraw.
Adama will next line up in the semifinals as Team Nigeria continues its campaign at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre.
