Nuno Espírito Santo Stays at West Ham Despite Sack Rumours as Club Targets Premier League Return

West Ham United have officially decided to keep Nuno Espírito Santo as the club’s manager despite growing speculation surrounding his future following the team’s relegation from the Premier League.

Reports in recent days suggested that the Portuguese tactician could be shown the exit door after crisis talks with the club’s hierarchy. However, West Ham’s board has now chosen stability over another managerial change as preparations begin for life in the Championship.

The club’s objective is now crystal clear — secure immediate promotion back to the Premier League.

Nuno, who was appointed as West Ham head coach in September 2025 on a three-year contract, endured a difficult campaign but reportedly retained support from sections of the club’s leadership despite the disappointment of relegation.

While speculation linked several managers with the West Ham job, including former promotion specialists and ex-Hammers coaches, the London side have decided continuity is the best route forward ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur boss now faces the huge challenge of rebuilding confidence within the squad and guiding the Hammers back to England’s top flight at the first attempt.

West Ham supporters will hope Nuno can repeat the success he achieved with Wolves, where he famously led the club to Championship glory and Premier League promotion during the 2017/18 season.

Despite the uncertainty that surrounded the club in recent days, the message from the board is now firm: Nuno Espírito Santo remains the man trusted to lead West Ham’s promotion mission.
