2026 NWFL Premiership Super Six: Port Harcourt Set for Epic Women’s Football Showdown as Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens Lead Title Race

The stage is officially set for the biggest celebration of women’s football in Nigeria as the 2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six Finals heads to Port Harcourt for the very first time in history.

The Nigeria Women Football League has confirmed that the 2026 NWFL Premiership Super Six will take place in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the iconic Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.

The season-ending championship playoffs will bring together the top six women’s football clubs in Nigeria to battle for the prestigious NWFL Premiership title and a continental ticket.

Qualified teams for the highly anticipated Super Six include defending champions Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Robo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and debutants Abia Angels.

The six clubs emerged as the top three teams from Groups A and B of the regular season and will now compete in a round-robin format, with each side playing five matches across nine days in what promises to be an intense title race.

Women’s football in Nigeria has continued to grow in competitiveness, with four different champions crowned in the last five editions of the NWFL Premiership. Rivers Angels won the title in 2021, while Bayelsa Queens lifted the trophy in 2022 and 2025. Delta Queens emerged champions in 2023 before Edo Queens claimed the crown in 2024.

Beyond the domestic title, the stakes are even higher this year as the eventual champions will represent Nigeria at the WAFU-B qualifiers for a place in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League and potentially secure qualification for the historic 2027 FIFA Women’s Club Championship.
