In his first major interview since taking over at Spurs, the Italian tactician said:
“It’s a big challenge and I will be the coach of Tottenham next season — NO MATTER WHAT.”
De Zerbi, who signed a five-year contract with the club earlier this week, emphasised his desire to rebuild Tottenham regardless of which division they find themselves in next season.
A Bold Statement at a Difficult Time
The 46-year-old coach took over a Tottenham side sitting precariously close to the relegation zone. Despite the difficult league position, De Zerbi has made it clear he is fully committed to the long-term project at the club.
His statement comes as a major reassurance to Tottenham fans who have been concerned about the club’s instability and rapid managerial turnover this season.
De Zerbi added that he sees Tottenham as “a big club with enormous potential” and is ready to lead a rebuild that focuses on attractive, attacking football and developing young talent.
What This Means for Tottenham
- De Zerbi’s commitment removes any immediate uncertainty surrounding the managerial position.
- It signals to players, fans, and potential summer signings that the club has a clear direction under the new coach.
- Even in the worst-case scenario of relegation to the Championship, De Zerbi has pledged to stay and lead the fight for promotion.
The Italian coach is expected to begin work immediately on stabilising the team’s league position while preparing for the crucial remaining fixtures.
