Guillaume Moullec has officially left his position as Head Coach of the Mauritius national team after two years in charge.
The French tactician will step down at the end of April 2026, with the Mauritius Football Association (MFA) confirming that his contract will not be renewed.
End of Tenure After Failed AFCON Qualification
Moullec’s departure comes after Mauritius failed to advance to the group stages of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The team was eliminated in the preliminary round, falling short of reaching the main qualifying phase.
During his two-year spell, Moullec worked to rebuild the squad and improve standards for the small island nation, but the lack of qualification for the next AFCON proved decisive.
The MFA expressed gratitude to the coach for his service and wished him well in his future endeavours. A search for a new head coach is expected to begin immediately.
What’s Next for Mauritius
Mauritius, ranked among the lower-tier African teams, will now look for fresh leadership to take the national side forward. The focus will shift to rebuilding momentum ahead of future competitions, including the next cycle of World Cup and AFCON qualifiers.
A new chapter begins for the Mauritian national team. What are your thoughts on Moullec’s tenure and the decision to part ways? Drop your comments below!
