Kenyan football legend Victor Wanyama has officially announced his retirement from professional football, bringing an end to a remarkable 15-year career that took him from the streets of Nairobi to some of the biggest stages in world football.
The 34-year-old midfield warrior, widely regarded as one of Kenya’s greatest-ever players, made the emotional announcement today.

Wanyama’s story is one of pure inspiration. Starting his career at Kenyan side Sofapaka, he rose rapidly through the ranks and moved to Europe in 2011 when he joined Celtic FC. There, he quickly became a fan favourite and helped the Scottish giants win multiple trophies.
He then conquered the Premier League, enjoying successful spells with Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, where his power, leadership, and tenacity in midfield earned him widespread respect across England.
Wanyama also had a memorable stint in North America with CF Montréal, before returning to Africa to see out the final chapter of his career.
