Rovers Football Club has confirmed that all players, coaching staff, management, and officials are safe and in stable condition following a road incident near Asaba while the team was travelling to Lagos for a scheduled Nigeria National League (NNL) fixture.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the club expressed profound gratitude to God for His protection over the entire delegation.
“Despite the severity of the situation, only minor injuries were sustained, and all members of the team are safe and in stable condition,” the statement read.
The incident occurred on the Asaba-Lagos route as Rovers FC made their way for one of their remaining matches in the 2025/26 NNL season. The club noted that the team will continue their journey to Lagos after receiving necessary medical attention.
Rovers FC also extended deep appreciation to fans, stakeholders, and the general public for their outpouring of concern, prayers, and support during the ordeal.
“We remain thankful for God’s divine intervention and mercy,” the statement added. “We pray for the swift recovery of those affected and for a safe continuation of the journey to Lagos.”
The club reaffirmed its commitment to excellence both on and off the pitch, emphasising values of unity, resilience, and faith.
Relief Across Nigerian Football
The news has brought relief to Nigerian football fans, especially supporters of Rovers FC (of Calabar), who were anxious after initial reports of the accident.
As the NNL season approaches its climax, with several teams still fighting for promotion and survival, Rovers FC will now focus on regrouping and preparing for their remaining fixtures once they arrive safely in Lagos.
We wish the entire Rovers FC delegation a safe journey and quick recovery to those with minor injuries.
Get well soon and stay strong, Rovers FC!
