Joy Omewa Nets Third Goal of the Season as Nottingham Forest Women Edge Durham 2-1

Nigeria international striker Joy Omewa continued her strong adaptation to English football, scoring her third goal of the 2025/26 Women’s Super League 2 (WSL 2) season to help Nottingham Forest Women secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Durham Women FC.

The Super Falcons forward opened the scoring for Forest in the 14th minute with a clinical finish at The City Ground on Sunday afternoon. Her goal set the tone for the home side, who went on to claim all three points in front of their supporters despite a late response from Durham.

Omewa, who joined Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal from Danish club Fortuna Hjørring in January 2026, has quickly become an important attacking threat for the team. Her goal-scoring form — now three goals in the league since arriving — highlights her sharp finishing and ability to make an immediate impact in the Championship.

Impressive Start in England

The 23-year-old Nigerian has shown composure and clinical edge in recent outings, building on her prolific record in Denmark where she scored over 50 goals in 85 appearances. This latest contribution adds to growing confidence that Omewa can be a key player as Forest push for a strong finish in the 2025/26 WSL 2 campaign.

Durham pulled one back through Lily Agg, but Forest held firm to record an important home win.

This result boosts Nottingham Forest Women’s position in the table and provides positive momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.

Congratulations to Joy Omewa and the entire Forest team on a well-earned victory!
