Jake Paul Undergoes Reconstructive Surgery for Double Jaw Fracture Following Anthony Joshua Knockout

MIAMI, FL — Social media star-turned-boxer Jake Paul has undergone successful surgery to repair a "double broken jaw" sustained during his sixth-round knockout defeat to former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua on Friday night.

The 28-year-old was rushed to the University of Miami Hospital immediately following the bout at the Kaseya Center. On Saturday morning, Paul confirmed the severity of his injuries via social media, sharing X-rays that revealed two distinct fractures in his mandible.

The Surgery and Recovery

The medical procedure, which took place early Saturday, involved significant reconstructive work. According to Paul and his promotional team, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the surgery included:

• Titanium Plates: Surgeons inserted two titanium plates on each side of his jaw to stabilize the fractures.

• Dental Work: Several teeth were removed due to the impact of the final punch.

• Strict Diet: Paul is currently on a mandatory seven-day liquid-only diet and is experiencing "significant pain and stiffness."

"Surgery went well, thanks for all the love and support," Paul posted from his hospital bed. "Lots of pain... gotta eat liquids for 7 days. Two titanium plates on each side. Some teeth removed."

The Knockout Blow

The injury occurred in the sixth round of the heavily criticized heavyweight clash. After five rounds of controlled pressure, Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs) landed a thunderous right hook directly to Paul's chin. The force of the blow sent Paul to the canvas for the fourth and final time in the fight, rendering him unable to beat the referee's count.

Observers noted Paul spitting blood during his post-fight ring interview, where he first admitted, "I think my jaw is broken."

Medical Suspension and Future Outlook

Following the knockout, the Florida Athletic Commission has issued a mandatory medical suspension for Paul, which is expected to last between 60 to 90 days to allow the bone to heal fully.

Despite the brutal nature of the loss—his first-ever by knockout—Paul remains defiant. He has signaled an end to his "heavyweight experiment" and plans to return to the cruiserweight division (200 lbs) once cleared for training.

"We’re going to heal the broken jaw, fight someone my weight, and go for the cruiserweight world title," Paul stated. "I'm going to take a little break. I've been going hard for six years."

Joshua, meanwhile, emerged from the fight unscathed and has immediately turned his attention to a potential 2026 undisputed clash with Tyson Fury.
