Nigerian world record holder Tobi Amusan has made a seamless start to her World Championships campaign, easily winning her heat in the women's 100m hurdles to qualify for the semifinals. Amusan glided through the race without breaking a sweat, clocking a winning time of 12.53s.
The Nigerian star's performance was a class apart, with the rest of the field finishing well behind. Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas secured second place with a time of 12.69s, while Elena Carraro of Italy finished third in 12.86s.
