After overcoming initial travel delays, the final group of players arrived midweek, allowing the full squad to participate in their second complete training session on Friday. Coach Häuptle described the atmosphere in camp as “excellent,” noting a strong blend of hard work and positivity.
“We had our second session here with the complete squad on Friday. The mood is excellent. I think we have found a very good balance between having a good mood and working hard,” she said.
Looking ahead to their crucial group stage clash against host nation Morocco, Häuptle acknowledged the technical quality of their opponents but affirmed Zambia’s tactical readiness and fighting spirit.
“We are ready to hunt. They have technically good players... but we want to challenge them the best we can and find the right strategy to go at them.”
Beyond physical preparation, the Copper Queens have also focused on team identity and values. Häuptle emphasized the importance of expressing their culture and collective spirit both on and off the pitch.
“We had a very good session yesterday about our values, how we want to act on the pitch, how we want to be recognised, and what kind of culture we want to express.”
The coach ended with a call to the Zambian people, encouraging fans to show their support wherever they are.
“We hope that as many fans as possible can arrive here in Morocco to support us on-site, or if not possible, that you are behind the televisions. We expect the full nation to be cheering for us and carrying us through this group stage.”
With a united team and an ambitious mindset, the Copper Queens are setting their sights on making a deep run in this year’s WAFCON.
