Toluwalase Arokodare marked a memorable moment in his international career by scoring his first goal for Nigeria, as the Super Eagles battled to a 1-1 draw against Russia in Friday’s international friendly at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
Nigeria fell behind in the 27th minute after a misfortune saw Semi Ajayi turn the ball into his own net. However, the Super Eagles regrouped and fought back with intensity.
Their persistence paid off in the 71st minute, when Arokodare found the back of the net to level the scoreline — a well-timed finish that not only opened his Nigeria account but also salvaged a positive result away from home.
It was a solid test for Chelle’s men as they continue to build momentum ahead of future competitions.
