The race for the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight reached new heights over the weekend as Wikki Tourists of Bauchi and Barau FC of Kano booked their tickets to the season-ending tournament. Their qualification sees them join Yobe Desert Stars and Doma United in the race for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Wikki Tourists Dominate to Top Conference C

Wikki Tourists sealed their Super Eight place in emphatic fashion with a commanding 4-1 victory over Zamfara United at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi. Led by Coach Abdullahi Maikaba, the Elephants wrapped up their campaign at the top of Conference C with 23 points and an impressive +11 goal difference after 14 games.

Historic Qualification for Barau FC

In just their debut season, Barau FC of Kano made history by clinching second place in Conference C. They secured their Super Eight spot after a gritty 0-0 draw against Mighty Jets of Jos at the New Jos Stadium. The draw was enough to see them finish with 19 points and a +4 goal difference, earning a remarkable qualification to the season finale.

Zamfara United Relegated Amidst Fierce Competition

It was a disappointing end for Zamfara United, whose crushing loss to Wikki Tourists, coupled with Jigawa Golden Stars' 1-0 victory over Sokoto United, condemned them to relegation. Jigawa’s crucial three points lifted them out of the danger zone, while Zamfara slipped into the drop, marking the end of their NNL journey for this season.
