Official: Liverpool sign World Cup Star

By Emmanuel Oladele - Liverpool have completed the signing of World Cup Star Cody Gakpo from PSV. The Reds have made an initial fee of €42m and further bonus payment of €14m.

Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano Romano confirmed the update in a social media post which reads as follows; "OFFICIAL: Liverpool have signed Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, the deal has been signed tonight between clubs. #LFC

Gakpo will sign long-term deal later this week as contract is fully agreed too.

Liverpool will pay £37m plus add-ons, up to £50m potential package."

The signing is happening following the outstanding performance of the forward at the just concluded 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, scoring three great goals for the Netherlands, and helping his side to reach the quarter-final of the tournament.

The Netherlands International is now the most expensive sale in the history of PSV, more expensive than Hirving Lozano, who joined Napoli in 2019 for €45m.

The 23-year-old currently top the Eredivisie goals scoring and assist charts with 9 goals and 12 assists respectively.
