NPFL settles for an Abridged League Format, Draw 20 Teams in Group A & B

By Emmanuel Oladele - Despite club owners disagreement with an abridged league for the 2022/23 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), the Interim Management Committee, IMC, have finally settled for an abridged league format of two Groups. Meanwhile, 20 teams have been drawn in Group A and B  for the 2022/23 season. See the Groupings below;

GROUP A 

• Akwa United - Uyo

• Bendel Insurance - Benin

• El-Kanemi Warriors - Maiduguri

• Enyimba International - Aba

• Gombe United - Gombe

• Kwara United - Ilorin

• Nasarawa United - Lafia

• Plateau United - Jos

• Remo Stars - Ikenne

• Shooting Stars - Ibadan

GROUP B

• Abia Warriors - Umuahia

• Bayelsa United - Yenagoa

• Dakkada FC - Uyo

• Doma United - Gombe

• Lobi Stars - Makurdi

• Niger Tornadoes - Minna

• Rangers International - Enugu

• Rivers United - Portharcourt

• Sunshine Stars - Akure

• Wikki Tourists - Bauchi

The 2022/23 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) will kick off on January 8th, 2023.
