About 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup Qualification (Inter-Confederation Play-Offs)

By Emmanuel Oladele - In the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup Qualification (Inter-Confederation Play-Offs), 10 teams split into three groups will battle for the final three qualification spots for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. The winner of each group will qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The play-off tournament will kick off from 17 to 23 February 2023 in Australia and New Zealand. It will also serve as a test event for Australia and New Zealand ahead of the main tournament (2023 FIFA Women World Cup).

The Ten Teams

• Asia (AFC) - 2 Slots

• CONCACAF - 2 Slots

• Africa (CAF) - 2 Slots

• South America (CONMEBOL) - 2 Slots

• Oceania (OFC) - 1 Slot

• Europe (UEFA) - 1 Slot


• Asia (AFC) - 2 Slots

>>>Chinese Taipei and Thailand will be representing the Asia Continent, Chinese Taipei as 2022 Women's Asian Cup play-offs Runner-up, and Thailand as 2022 Women's Asian Cup play-offs third-placed team.


• CONCACAF - 2 Slots

>>> CONCACAF (North America, Central America and the Caribbean). The 2022 Women's Championship Group A and B third-placed team automatically qualify for the inter-confederation play-offs. The 2022 CONCACAF Women's Championship will hold in Mexico from 4 to 18 July, 2022.

• Africa (CAF) - 2 Slots

>>> The winners of the Repechage during the 2022 Women Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, that is, the losers of the quarter finals will face off, two winners will emerge and will advance to the inter-con federation play-offs.

• South America (CONMEBOL) - 2 Slots

>>> 2022 Copa América Femenina fourth and fifth placed teams will pick CONMEBOL slots. The 2022 Copa América Femenina holds in Colombia from 8-30 July 2022.

• Oceania (OFC) - 1 Slot

>>> The winner of the 2022 OFC Women's Nations Cup will pick the slot for the Oceania continent. The 2022 OFC Women's Nations Cup holds from 13-30 July in Fiji.

• Europe (UEFA) - 1 Slot

The third-ranked play-offs winners in the UEFA play-offs will pick UEFA slot. UEFA play-offs is expected to hold between 3-11 October, 2022.
