WAFU U20 Championship: Bosso Pick final 28, kickoff Campaign against Ghana

By Emmanuel Oladele - Flying Eagles Head Coach Ladan Bosso has selected 28 players who will represent Nigeria at the WAFU Zone B Championship in Niamey, Niger Republic, a competition which also serve as qualifier for the CAF U20 Nations Cup which holds in Egypt in 2023. Two finalists will represent WAFU Zone B in Egypt. See the list of all 28 selected players below;

FLYING EAGLES SQUAD FOR WAFU CHAMPIONSHIP

Goalkeepers: Nathaniel Nwosu (Water FC); Chijioke Aniagboso (Giant Brillars); Saheed Jimoh (Adoration FC).

Defenders: Opeyemi Omooloyi (Akure City); Abubakar Babaji (Niger Tornadoes); Lekan Oyedele (Remo Stars); Oluwatosin Adegbite (Enyimba FC); Augustine Njoku (Abia Warriors); Chikezie Okolie (Giant Brillars); David Sholumade (Akwa United); Benjamin Frederick (ABS FC).

Midfielders: Anas Hassan (Vandrezzer FC); Daniel Daga (FC One Rocket); Oluwaseyi Falodun (Jossy United); Samson Lawal (Katsina United); Onuche Ogbelu (Fosla Academy); Muhammad Aminu (Gombe United); Muhammad Shehu (Katsina United); Frederick Godwin (City FC).

Forwards: Adams Olubi (FK Zalgris Vilnius, Lithuania); Tolulope Ojo (Remo Stars); Ibrahim Muhammad (Maikunkele FC); Ibrahim Yahaya (Gombe United); Rilwanu Haliru Sarki (Mahanaim FC); Divine Nwachukwu (Adoration FC); Ahmed Abdullahi (HB Academy); Abdullahi Adam (Nasarawa United); Albert Hilary (Plateau United).

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria are in Group B alongside Ghana and Burkina Faso, while Group A has host Niger Republic, Benin Republic, Togo and Côte d'Ivoire.

Nigeria will commence their WAFU Zone B campaign on 8th May against Ghana, before facing Burkina Faso three days later. The two games will hold at the General Seyni Kountche Stadium in Niamey.

Two teams from each group will qualify to play in the semi-final, while the two finalists will represent WAFU Zone B at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt 2023. Also, the four semifinalists in Egypt will represent Africa at the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup which hold in Indonesia.
