Super Eagles Attacker Suffers Racial Abuse in Italy

By Olamide Oyetunji - The Italian league has been plagued by high-profile cases of racist abuse from fans directed towards black players over the past years. Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is the latest victim of the ugliness in Italian football over the weekend. Italian journalist Dario Di Gennaro has expressed his surprise over the behaviour of the referee in the 2-1 win Napoli had over Lazio on Sunday in the Serie A, he claimed they didn’t bother to stop the game when Osimhen was racially insulted by Lazio fans. “But racist insult for Osimhen without anyone from the referee saying anything”, he posted on his official Twitter handle @dariogennar. The 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner encountered similar situation earlier this season in matches versus Fiorentina and AS Roma.
