Dramatic Climax as Shooting Stars, Dynamite Force End it 2-2

By Tosin Omojola - It was a dramatic end to a gruelling encounter as Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan on Sunday, held Dynamite Force of Iyahmo to a 2-2 draw in a rescheduled NNL matchday 17 encounter, played at the Edo State University, Uzaire Sports Complex.

Leading goal scorer, Olafimihan Gafar scored his 16th goal of the season on a day his goal saved the Group B1 run away winners from defeat, scoring a fantastic goal just a minute after the homers scored what looked like the winning goal of the match.

It was a dramatic climax to the contest as both sides rallied to hit the back of the net within two minutes of injury time as scoreline as at 90 minutes stood at 1-1 before five minutes were added by the referee.

The Oluyole Warriors, started the game on high against the Iyahmo based side, who also put in everything they had into game, knowing fully well that a loss means their stay in the second-tier league would be over.

The Oluyole Warriors had scored what looked like a legitimate goal the 24th minute but the referee ruled out Gafar Olafimihan''s goal after the striker shrugged off pressure from a Dynamite defender, dribbled past  goalkeeper Abdulganiyu Opeyemi in goal for the homers before slotting in the ball.

Four minutes later, the visitors, who had survived the early onslaught of the homers, with goalkeeper Dare Dede forced to make daring saves, shot into the lead in the 28th minutes through Chinedu Enuademu.

The left footed attacking midfileder returned to the start line up after a while, with a bang, as his curling effort from outside the 18 yard box, caught Dynamite goalkeeper Opeyemi napping.

The Ibadan soccer lords dominated the largest part of the first half, spraying passes around, thus forcing their opponent to stay back, but the final delivery was their undoing.

With relegation starring them in the face, Dynamite put in more efforts in the second half and they were rewarded with the equalizer ten minutes into the restart.

Bent on winning the match, the Edith Agoye led 3SC technical crew made a tripple substitution, with the trio of Olawale Mutiu, Nafiu Raheem and Anthony Okachi joining the action.

It was the host who however shot into the lead in the first of the five added minutes but their celebration was cut short almost immediately as Olafimihan fired home from close range, to ensure the spoils were shared.
