VAR Tested Ahead of Nigeria versus Sierra Leone in Benin City

By Olamide Oyetunji - The 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Super Eagles of Nigeria and Leone Stars of Sierra Leone could produce a new progress of modern football related.

According to information from the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City of Edo state, technocrats and technicians were on ground on Wednesday afternoon to test run the Video Assistant Referee gadgets ahead of the West African derby scheduled for Friday.

Circulated pictures on social media made us to understand that the Video Assistant Referee could be an important factor in the qualifiers should the Confederation of African Football decides to use it.

The newly refurbished Samuel Ogbemudia stadium is the only Nigerian stadium at the moment certified with VAR facility and but the 12,000 capacity arena will be empty on the Matchday due to restrictions in relation to covid-19.
