Anointed Nigerian Boxer Punching Towards Future Glory

Nigeria is a blessed nation when it comes to talents in combat sports and the reality has been unfolded in gold with some former World Heavyweight Champions to be traced to the most populous black nation.

Boxing is one of the sports in Nigeria that is connected to the street most especially in a populated city like Lagos.

Sultan Adekoya is a 12-year old boy, who loves boxing and aspires to be like Anthony Joshua, Bash Ali, Samuel Okon Peter, Mohammed Ali and Floyd Mayweather.

Sultan represents the millions of children living in the slums with big dreams but have no wherewithal to accomplish it as poverty stands as a major obstacle to overcome.

However, he is determined that with hardwork and persistence, he would fulfil his dreams.

According to his mother via her interview with BBC Africa, Sultan Adekoya became addicted with the combat squared circle at age five.

As of September 2020, the sensational Sultan has fought 55 oppositions, drew twice, won a staggering 53 times with 45 of those coming as a result of knockout.

His impressive statistics has won the heart of the Nigeria's Minister of Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare, who gave him coverage on micro-blogging platform, Twitter.

"10-year old Sultan Adekoya adopted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development fought in Lagos at Fela Field, Ayobo road Oja bus stop on Sunday the 27th of September.

Perhaps, Coach Taiwo Adegbite also known as Coach 'Tito' has tutored Sultan for seven years and he won't relent in his quest to make him an undisputed world champion by next decade.

Renowned Nigerian rapper, Michael Ugochukwu Stephens alias Ruggedman also paid the rising star a surprise visit at Ebenezer Primary School, Egbeda.
