Ramon Azeez Scores as Granada Shock Barcelona

Forgotten Super Eagles midfielder, Ramon Azeez put up a spirited heroic display as Barcelona's struggles in LaLiga continued after suffering a shock 2-0 defeat to Granada at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes on Saturday night.

Lionel Messi had to make do with a spot on the bench, although Carles Perez was given the nod start alongside Luis Saurez and Antoine Griezmann in the attack.

It was the home side who got off to the better start as Roman Azeez opened the scoring after just two minutes with a simple finish at the far post as the Barca defence were caught napping.

Granada had a great chance to double the lead after 14 minutes as Antonio Puertas cut inside from the flank before unleashing a curling effort that forced Marc-Andre Ter Stegen into a superb save.
Without Messi once again, the Catalan giants really struggled in the final third as the only chances fell to the home side, with Herrera going closest with an effort from distance after 36 minutes.
Ernesto Valverde wasted no time at the start of the second half, introducing both Messi and Ansu Fati for Perez and Junior Firpo.

The second half did not pan out as Barca would have hoped as Granada were awarded a penalty after a review from the Video Assistant Referee spotted a handball on Arturo Vidal. Vadillo stepped up and sent Ter Stegen the wrong way to double the lead on 66 minutes.

The Catalan giants threw everything forward in search of a goal, with Messi going close with an effort from distance that was palmed away by Rui Silva on 82 minutes. However, the LaLiga champions were unable to find the breakthrough as Granada held on for a famous victory.

Meanwhile,Ramon Azeez last feature for the Nigerian senior national team in 2014 as a World Cup representative in Brazil.
