Madagascar beat DR Congo to book a place in AFCON quarter-final

The Barea of Madagascar on Sunday defeated DR Congo on penalties, after the normal time and the extra time ended 2-2.

Ibrahim Amanda opened scoring for Madagascar in the 9th minute of the first half, before Cedric Bakambu restored parity to DR Congo to end the first half in a 1-1 draw.

The second half resumed with no goal until the 77th minute when Faneva Imà Andriatsima's strike gave Dupuis led side the lead in the second half, but no thanks to Chancel Mbemba Mangulu's strike that denied Madagascar of winning the game in the normal time, as the 90th minute strike restored parity to the Congolese.

The extra time resumed with no goal for both sides in the first and the second half of the extra time.

The penalty shootout resumes with Madagascar scoring four of their first four kick, while DR Congo only managed to score two of their first four kick, 4-2 it end in the penalty shootout in favour of Madagascar.

Madagascar are through to the quarter-final of the Africa Cup of Nations after defeating DR Congo by 4-2 on Penalty shootout, following the 2-2 draw scoreline in regulation time.
