Lobi Stars Striker Sikiru Alimi scored twice to send the Makurdi based team to the group stage of the 2018/2019 CAF Champions League, defeating Kenyan Champions Gor Mahia.
Gor Mahia went into the game with a 3-1 advantage following their first leg win in Kenya.
The first half of the encounter in Enugu ended goalless, but the host team were determined attain successful in the two legged encounter. It was Sikiru Alimi who brought the stadium alive in the 70th minute with a stunning strike but not enough to guarantee the host a place in the group stage.
Lobi Stars of Makurdi had to wait until 89th of the game before securing a place in the group stage, thanks to another strike from Sikiru Alimi.
Lobi Stars of Nigeria are now through to the Group Stage of the 2018/2019 CAF Champions League as Gor Mahia crashed out.
Gor Mahia failed again at the same stage it happened in the last edition, loosing 1-0 on aggregate to Esperance who are now the defending Champions.
After the entire duration, it Lobi Stars 2-0 Gor Mahia, and 3-3 on aggregate but Lobi go through by away goal rule following a 3-1 scoreline in the first leg.
