Basic Info: England vs Nigeria

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will today Saturday 2nd of June, 2018 lock horns with the Three Lions of England in an International friendly.

The match is expected to kickoff by 5:15pm Nigeria time. The match will be played at Wembley Stadium the home ground of the Three Lions.

Marco Guida, a young referee from Italy will work as the centre referee and will be assisted by fellow Italians. The duo of Riccardo Di Fiore and Alessandro Giallantini will serve as assistant Referees while Davide Massa works as fourth official. Michael Fabbri will be the Video Assistant Referee and Giulio Dobosz works as assistant video assistant referee.

The game is to prepare both team for the upcoming World Cup in Russia.

The first meeting between both side was on Wednesday 16th of November, 1994 at Wembley Stadium, the game end 1-0 in favour of England, thanks to a 41st minute goal from David Platt.

The second meeting was in the group stage of Korea/Japan 2002 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday June 12, 2002, the game was played at Osaka Nagai Stadium in Japan, which ended 0-0. The game featured stars like David Beckham, Michael Owen, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole and Gareth Southgate who is currently the coach of the England national side. On the other hand star players like Austin J.J. Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, Taribo West, Finidi Gorge, Julius Aghahowa and Femi Opabunmi also featured for the Nigeria side.

Today's game is expected to feature stars players like, Ashley Young, Raheem Sterling, Dele Alli, Marcus Rashford, Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane who is also the captain for the England national side. Also, Star players like Alex Iwobi, Victor Moses, Wilfred Ndidi, Odion Ighalo and John Obi Mikel who is also the captain of the Nigeria National side are all expected to feature in the encounter.

The Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup will start on the 14th of June, 2018 and England will be playing in Group G alongside Belgium, Panama and Tunisia while Nigeria will be playing in Group D alongside Argentina, Iceland and Croatia.
