Double trouble in two days for Nigerian clubs in the Champions League

NPFL Champion Plateau United and MFM FC of Lagos have crashed out the 2017/2018 season Champions League.

Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of March 2018 are days to remember for Nigeria football fans and teams in the CAF Champions League as two reputable sides from the Nigeria Professional Football League crashed in the Champions League.

MFM and Plateau United had a good start in the preliminary stage of the Champions League but met two of the warriors of CAF Champions League MC Alger and Etoile du Sahel respectively in the the final round games that preceded the Group stage.

On Saturday MFM FC were bashed 6-0 by MC Alger, having won the first leg in Nigeria by 2-1, but lost the round by 7-2 on aggregate.

The woe was compounded on Sunday when NPFL Champion Plateau United could only put one past Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia, thanks to a solitary strike from Former Osun United striker, Tosin Omoyele, but the Jos outfit have nothing to cheer at the end of the game, having lost the first leg in Tunisia by 4-2, and Etoile du Sahel are through to the group stage having won the round by 4-3 on aggregate.

For 2017/2018 CAF Champions League season, all the teams representing Nigeria could not make the group stage as they crashed out in the last round that preceded the group stage.
