CHAN 2018 Preview By Olamide Oyetunji

The Championship for African Domestic Players is starting in Morocco and here is a short preview of all the teams.

●Group A

The Hosts are one of the favourite and are hoping to do better than their quarter final finish in 2014,the Atlas Lions of Morocco will be banking on the experience of Players in the Caf Champions League Glory of Wydad Casablanca late last year.

The Moroccan players are also vying for world cup squad spots.
The Guinea National team were in the last four of the last edition in Rwanda after making it out of a Group that contained Tunisia, Niger and Nigeria.

Mauritania are simply going to go home with basket of goals while Sudan will rely on support from fans on a familiar territory.

●Group B

The Chipolopolo are simply loaded with stars like Augustine Mulenga , Kapumbu , Alex N'gonga , Mtonga , Silwimba who are familiar with the African terrain with Zesco United and Zanaco putting them under pressure to better their third place finish in 2009.

The Uganda Cranes are probably slugging it out with Ivory Coast for a second place, the elephants are still unhappy after losing the Russia 2018 ticket to Morocco and a good show could be a consolation while Namibia are weeping boys on paper.

●Group C

The Libyans are well-known for playing away from home over the years due to political turmoil but in the midst of that, the team stunned everyone four years ago in South Africa.

Super Eagles of Nigeria are a competition team anytime and any day with the Caliber of Ikechukwu Ezenwa, experienced Rabiu Ali who was part of the 2014 third place finish while Peter Eneji,Sunday Faleye,Nura Abdullahi and Anthony Okpotu are expected to erase the memory of a Group stage exit of Rwanda 2016.

Chisom Chikatara was a joint top scorer in the last edition with 4goals despite the disappointing outing while Ejike Uzoenyi was the Most Valuable Player of the 2014 edition which shows what Nigeria can do. Speaking of Rwanda, Quarter finalists in 2016 are dark horse while the convergence of Players from all-over the World makes Equatorial Guinea unpredictable.

●Group D

Angolan relatively footballing success apart from the FIFA World Cup participation in 2006 came in 2011 when they lost to Tunisia in the Grand Finale of CHAN.

Congo could stun Cameroon whose federation is in crisis and Burkina Faso.

Cameroon made the Quarter Finals in 2011 and 2016.
