Breaking: Yakubu Aiyegbeni Retires on 35th Birthday

Former Super Eagles Striker,Yakubu Aiyegbeni retires from football on his 35th BIRTHDAY today after 20years in the game.

The former Gateway FC youth player scored 21 goals in his 57 appearances for Nigeria from 2000 to 2010. He is currently the third highest ever international goalscorer for Nigeria.

Yak played 250 English Premier League matches and scored 96 goals for Clubs like Everton, Middlesbrough and Portsmouth.

He also star for Julius Berger,Gil Vicente,Maccabi Haifa,Hapoel,Leicester City,Blackburn Rovers,Guangzhou R&F,Al-Rayyan,Reading,Kayserispor Coventry City and Hapoel Kfar Saba.

Yakubu is one of only three teenagers to have scored a hat-trick in the Champions League (19years 306days for Maccabi Haifa v Olympiakos in 2002).
