Joshua KO Takam in 10th Round to Retain Heavyweight Belts

Nigerian born England boxer, Anthony Joshua retained his WBA, IBF and IBO belts after knocking out his opponent Carlos Takam in the tenth round of the world heavyweight boxing fight.

Joshua has increased his knockouts to 20, having won his previous last 19 fights via knockouts.

The champion has been having upper hand by continue to punch Takam in his bleeding eye but Carlos won more points in the ninth round.

Coming into the tenth round Takam entered the ring with a long face and Joshua and his fans have expected the fight not to get that long.
After several punches without reply from Takam in the tenth round the referee came in to separate the two of them and declare Anthony Joshua winner. The decision that made Carlos Takam wondering why the referee stopped the fight.

Anthony Joshua: "It's a beautiful thing, look what boxing is doing, people from different backgrounds, flying in from different countries."

'I don't make the decisions' "First and foremost, Cardiff thank you for coming out this evening.

"Takam, it was a pleasure. I come to fight, I don't sit on the edge and make decisions. it was a good fight until the ref stopped it, so I have the utmost respect for Takam.

"I have no interest in what is going on with the officials, that's not my job. I think people want to see Takam unconscious on the floor, and that's what I was trying to get to."

On breaking his nose in the second round: "I had to keep my cool. I've got a few months to heal it up. I'll go and see some good doctors to crack it back in place.

"If I showed any signs of weakness, the ref could have jumped in. That's what he (Takam) tried to do, but the ref stopped it.

"I want to continue to grow the sport of boxing and everyone knows where we're heading."
