Nigeria on the back foot after failing to win and also failing to score in the opening two matches and needed a victory badly.

Ezenwa, Ali,Friday Ubong,Aremu and Akas all returned to the team after been rested against Guinea in a 4-5-1 formation.

Nigeria started the match with determination and had early chances missed by Friday Ubong and the brilliance of the Ghanaian goalkeeper also counted.

Okpotu thought he had his first Goal but his shot was cleared off the line by a Ghanaian defender.

The tempo of the match dropped in the last 20 minutes of the first half as both sides entered the dressing room goalless.

After 235 minutes without a goal, NPFL top scorer Anthony Okpotu broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute after receiving a through ball from midfield, holding and committing a defender and finishing expertly into the roof of the net.

Nigeria played with confidence afterward and deservedly doubled the lead through Plateau United sensational player, Peter Eneji in the 55th minute after a nice build-up that saw Chima Akas crossing a low ball diagonally and Eneji smartly dispatched it with his left foot leaving the Ghana keeper rooted.
