English Premier League Football: Matchday 1 as it happened

The 2017/2018 English Premier League season started on Friday night with Arsenal narrowly escaping defeat from the hands of determined Leicester City at Emirates Stadium.

Day 2 of the 2017/2018 Premier League Season was full of surprises with defending champion Chelsea losing at home to Burnley and Liverpool playing a 3-3 draw with Watford.

Chelsea in their first game of the 2017/2018 EPL season lost to Burnley 2-3 in a thrilling encounter that saw Chelsea Captain Cahill receiving the first red card of the season after a dangerous tackle on Burnley's Steven Defour and the referee Craig Pawson showed him a way out in the 13th minute of the encounter.

With a man down, Chelsea team became less effective. Burnley opened scoring in 24th minute through 27 year-old Sam Vokes. Burnley dramatically scored the second and the third goal respectively through Stephen Ward and Sam Vokes in the 39th and 43th minute, 0-3 it ended in the first half in favour of Burley.

In the second half, EPL debutant Alvaro Morata scored the first goal of his Chelsea career through a cross from William in the 69th minute before David Luis made it 2 for Chelsea in the 88th minute of the encounter.

Chelsea's Cesc Fabregas received another red card in the 81st minute after receiving the first yellow card in the 16th minute before the second in the 81st minute. After 90 minutes, Chelsea 2-3 Burnley, it ended.
