Gabon 2017 Round One in Summary

After first round of group matches of Afcon 2017,It is very clear that all the matches were tight with no whitewash, few slim victories and several draws.

Former African Footballer of the year,Pierre Emerick Aubameyang goal was cancelled out by a 90th minutes equaliser from Juary Suares in the Opening match of the tournament between Gabon and Guinea Bissau,Issoufou Dayo's late header denied Cameroon three points after a stunning freekick by Benjamin Moukandjo gave the indomitable lions the lead earlier in their encounter with Burkina Faso to make all the teams have a point apiece.

A Sadio Mane penalty and a goal by Kara Mbodji was enough to give Teranga Lions victory over a tough Carthage Eagles of Tunisia after Riyad Mahrez double could only help Algeria claim a lucky point against an Enterprising Zimbabwe team.

Ivory Coast drew goalless with Togo while Congo DR Congo despite being 10-man after Joyce Lomalisa became the first to recieve a red card in the competition still managed to squeeze out full points versus Morocco through a Junior Kabananga half Volley.Mbark Boussoufa was fantastic and he was named Man of the Match.

Ghana claimed a slim victory in Group D through a spot kick slotted by Andre Ayew while the highlight of the day was when Essam El Hadary became the Oldest Player at Age 44 to compete in the Finals of Afcon as Mossa Marega and Marwan Mohsen couldn't convert the few chance for Mali and Egypt respectively in the disappointing goalless draw.
