Having been postponed to avoid clashing with the Paris Games, the tournament now runs from July 5–26, 2025 and features 12 nations battling for continental honours.

Opening Day Fixtures & Kickoff Times (Morocco Local Time / WAT–GMT+1)

Date Time Match Stadium
Jul 5 21:00 / 22:00 WAT Morocco vs Zambia Olympic Stadium, Rabat
Jul 6 17:00 / 18:00 WAT Nigeria vs Tunisia Larbi Zaouli, Casablanca
  • The tournament gets underway tonight at 21:00 local (22:00 WAT) with hosts Morocco taking on Zambia in Rabat.

  • Tomorrow at 17:00 local (18:00 WAT), Nigeria, nine-time champions and perennial favourites, open their Group B campaign against Tunisia in Casablanca.

Why This Tournament Matters

  • Nigeria dominates the record books with 9 titles, aiming to reclaim the crown in Group B alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana.

  • The host, Morocco — last year’s runner-up — knows home advantage, opening on their own turf.

  • South Africa, the 2022 champions, kick off their Group C campaign on July 7 against defending rivals Ghana.

CAF reports unprecedented global demand, with over 120 territories broadcasting the opening night, highlighting the rapid rise in popularity of the women’s game in Africa. From SuperSport and beIN to SNRT (in Morocco), audiences worldwide will be tuned in.

Group stages will sweep through to July 14, with knockout rounds starting July 18. The semi-finals are set for July 22, the third-place playoff on July 25, and the final on July 26 — again in Rabat.

Tonight's kickoff in Rabat marks more than just football—it's a celebration of progress, unity, and the power of women athletes across Africa. From the young stars of Zambia to seasoned champions like Nigeria and South Africa, this edition of WAFCON promises drama, milestones, and unforgettable moments.
