Abdul-Rasheed Saminu has stunned the track world with a sensational 9.86s (0.6) run in the 100m quarterfinal at the NCAA East Prelims, setting a new personal best, a Ghanaian national record, and the fastest time in the world this year!

The 22-year-old sprinter was electric out of the blocks and held his form to the finish, coming just 0.04s shy of the NCAA record (9.82s) held by Christian Coleman. His performance now puts him at the top of the global rankings for 2025.

Not far behind was Nigeria’s Kanyinsola Ajayi, who clocked a superb personal best of 9.95s, making it a historic race for African sprinting.
